An affiliate is a person or business that refers web surfers to CounterCat.com.  This can be done in several ways.

• Direct link
• Posting a CounterCat.com banner advertisement
• Installing a CounterCat Search Box somewhere on your site
• Including Real Time Search Results at your site (can be limited to one or more keywords)
  

Some affiliates mention that they are a CounterCat partner in print advertising and other forms of media.  Regardless of how the affiliate sends consumers our way, we compensate them by paying them for each successful referral.  The rates paid are determined by what the referral (web surfer) does while visiting CounterCat.com.  If the referral visits the home page, performs a search, and ultimately clicks a link of a supporting advertiser, a 25-50% commission is paid to that affiliate.  Advertisers at CounterCat.com pay for their listings on a 'Pay-Per-Click' basis.   CounterCat tracks each referral by their ip address and cookie and only pays the affiliate for each unique ip address.  In turn, we only charge the advertisers for unique ip AND cookie referrals.  This is a much more precise method for calculating traffic for unique visitors.  If your currently advertising at other PPC engines, you should ask them to 'prove' to you that they use cookies and ip addresses to be sure you are not double charged for the same visitor.
